NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE SOCIETY SEEKS CHERRY BLOSSOM PRINCESS Young lady needed to represent the Granite State in Washington

WASHINGTON – The New Hampshire State Society (NHSS) is seeking a young lady to represent New Hampshire at the 95th Annual National Cherry Blossom Festival during the week of April 8 – 14, 2007. Each year, young women from across the country represent their states and territories during a week of education, leadership, and cultural activities which include a Congressional reception, a grand ball, and visits to foreign embassies. The week-long festival culminates with the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. One princess will be chosen by a spin of the wheel to become Cherry Blossom Queen, representing the United States in Japan later this spring.

"Representing New Hampshire as the 2006 Cherry Blossom Princess was a great experience," said Kathleen Amacio of Newmarket. "Not only was I able to visit many Washington sites that I never would have been to otherwise, but I made friends from all over the U.S. and from other countries who I never would have met if it weren't for the Cherry Blossom program. The best part of the week was knowing that I was representing New Hampshire in a positive way even though I was hundreds of miles from home."

Women interested in serving as the Granite State's 2007 Cherry Blossom Princess must be single, between the ages of 19 and 24, and a high school graduate. Candidates will also be asked to submit a short essay on what New Hampshire means to them. Candidates must be available for all scheduled activities during the 2007 Festival.

Applications must be submitted to the NHSS by January 31st, 2007. For an application or more information, please contact Stephanie DuBois, Secretary of NHSS, at (603) 858-3231 or nhstatesociety@hotmail.com.
